“Can there be a better future for Burundi, without forgiveness?”

This was the theme of the 2nd edition of the Conversation between Generations, held this Saturday, May 18th, at the Royal Palace Hotel, as part of the initiative Imboneza Mu Buntu from Dieudonné Nahimana Foundation (DNF).

Different people were invited during this conversation; among the participants present were political personalities, company owners, businessmen, young artists, journalists, bloggers, and many others.

Guest of the day, Mr. Audace Ndayisaba, and author of the book “I had to forgive” shared his testimony on the crisis of 1972, but especially  insisted on the importance of forgiveness:

“In my life and with regard to forgiveness, I thought I had mastered the subject, but it was not the case. I realized this at the age of forty. There were wounds in my heart from the past that left their footprints. After crossing the last step of forgiveness, which was about the past trauma ,I decided to write […] I believe that my writings can inspire those born in my generation ( In the 60s) and the future generation, to live with forgiveness when facing the difficulties of life. ” –

Audace Ndayisaba.

This experience generated, among the participants, testimony about their own injuries due to the unknown past.

The main goal of this meeting was a frank and constructive exchange of views between the two generations in order to reflect deeply on the subject of forgiveness that will allow all of us to participate in the construction of a better future of our country, Burundi .
